Beyond the Poses: Ashtanga Foundations
Let’s go back to the beginning—the Sun Salutations. Learn the breath, movement, Sanskrit count and rhythm of the practice, one breath at a time.

The Sun Salutations may already be familiar to you. But how closely have you really been paying attention? This is where we begin to take the practice beyond the poses. Whether you’re completely new to Ashtanga or you’ve practiced Sun Salutations hundreds of times, I want you to come to this practice with curiosity. Instead of simply following along, begin to notice the details. Listen to the breath. Hear the Sanskrit count. Notice where each movement begins and ends. Feel the rhythm of the practice. No pressure. No need to be flexible. No need to keep up. Just one breath, one movement at a time. In this course, we’ll return to the foundations together so you can: ✓ Understand the structure and flow of the Sun Salutations ✓ Connect the breath to each movement ✓ Become familiar with the traditional Sanskrit count ✓ Pay closer attention to alignment and transitions ✓ Explore options that work for your body ✓ Begin building a practice you understand—not one you simply follow The poses matter. But they’re only one part of the practice. Sometimes going deeper doesn’t mean doing more. It means noticing more. Let’s start here.
